Forging a knife
Thu 8 - Fri 9 Oct
£280.00
Your tutor Matt Whittaker leads this 2-day knife making course.
On this course you will be taken through the entire process of turning a short section of car spring into a full tang knife blade. First you will go through the forging process on a charcoal fuelled hand cranked hearth and will be shown all of the relevant techniques to fashion the shape of the blade. Rough sharpening followed by a full heat treatment will produce a robust slojd style blade.
This blade will be mounted onto a handle and you will leave with a functioning knife for use in everyday carving.
No previous experience is necessary and all tools and materials are provided.
Full payment for each course is required when booking (please do contact us if this is a problem). You can change the date or cancel your place up to 30 days before the course starts but there is a £25 administration charge. The full course fee is non-refundable after this time, however we will always try to fill the cancelled place. If we can fill your place, we are of course happy to transfer you to another course.
Please note there are no dogs allowed on site and while we give you full safety briefings all courses are attended at your own risk.
All courses are for 18 years and over.
