FAQ

Do I need to bring a packed lunch?

We provide a simple lunch of home-made soup, bread and fruit.

Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements or allergies we should be aware of.

If you want to bring your own lunch you are of course very welcome to do so.

What happens if it’s raining?

While the centre is in the middle of a wood, we have ample cover that keeps you dry in all but the very worst of weather.

On spring and Autumn courses we do recommend wearing some extra layers – particularly on the less physical courses.

Can a teenager come on a course?

All courses are for over 18’s only

Will I take home the things I’ve made?

All the things you make at Greenwood Days are yours to take away. I love watching proud students walking away with the wonderful things they’ve made on a course.

Is there a toilet?

We have two well-constructed composting toilets with a gentle ramped access. We’ve even had complements on our toilets!

Can I camp at the course centre?

No, we don’t allow any camping or overnight parking on site. There is a campsite 200M away and plenty of other local options for accommodation. We send out a list of accommodation suggestions when people book and are happy to send it over before booking if wanted.

Are there places to stay nearby?

There are a whole host of options to stay close by.

There’s a campsite next door and accommodation in Breedon, Melbourne and Staunton Harold which are a shortish walk along footpaths away and plenty of places to stay within a ten-minute drive.

I am staying locally to attend the course – are there any good pubs or restaurants for an evening meal?

There are lots of places to eat (it’s a bit of a foodie area!).

We send out a pack with details of lots of places to eat when you book onto a course and are happy to give more recommendations during a course.

What time can I arrive?

Please arrive from 9.15am ready for a 9.30 am start.

What time do courses finish?

Courses should all be finished by approx. 4.30pm though if you’ve finished the item you’ve been making earlier the course will finish early and if more work is needed then we’re usually happy to finish a little later.

Do let us know if you need to leave earlier and we can try to accommodate this.

Do I need special footwear?

Stout shoes are required with no open toed sandals. We will be using sharp tools and sometimes moving heavy pieces of wood which all have the danger of being dropped onto your toes/feet.

You will not be allowed to participate if you are wearing open toed footwear.

A walking boot type of footwear is ideal or even steel toe-capped boots if you have them.

Can I bring my dog?

No dogs are allowed on site.

Can I get a refund if I cancel my place on a course?

You can get a refund up to 4 weeks before the course start (minus a £25 cancellation fee).

After this if you can’t attend a course, please let us know as soon as possible as we usually have a waiting list. If possible, someone else can take up the place and we can then move you to another course.

We’ve sometimes managed to do this with only 24 hours’ notice!

Can I park at the course centre?

Yes! There is parking in the wood next to the centre.

Does the course price include materials?

Yes, all materials are included.
